Breaking News: Northwestern Mutual Announces 2015 Dividend

The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company announced its 2015 Dividend. Total dividends paid will increase by roughly $300 million to $5.5 billion and the dividend interest rate on whole life insurance will remain at 5.60%.

Roughly 90% of the total dividend payout will go towards participating whole life policy holders, but Northwestern Mutual states that it will pay record dividends on other lines of business. Their breakdown of dividends paid to other product lines include:

  • $320 million to disability insurance policyholders
  • $150 million to term life insurance policyholders
  • $105 million to variable life insurance policyholders
  • $45 million to annuity policyholders
