IPB 117: Why Are Life Insurance Companies Afraid to Communicate?

Why is that life insurance companies seem so reluctant to answer important questions? If you've been in the life insurance biz long enough this is probably one of your many laments. It certainly is for us.

Episode 117 is largely based on a blog post that was published by Joseph M. Belth. You should go over and read his post for a basis to understand our discussion. Here's the link:

The Age 100 Problem: The Results of a Survey

Now, we're not diving into the “Age 100 Problem” per se, it's interesting for sure but Mr. Belth is definitely the authority on that subject. No, we're actually much more interested in the survey that he sent out to the CEO's of 22 different life insurance companies. Again–read his post to find out what he asked. None of it was asking for companies to divulge proprietary information.

Of the 22 that were surveyed, only 9 companies bothered to respond. And of those, only 5 provided answers to some of his questions.
