152 Grandma’s Gold Bunions

Gold Bunions

Well, here's the first episode of the Financial Procast for 2015. The show has now managed to span three calendar years and we are grateful that you choose to spend some time with us each week.

It's been a while since we've done a “Q&A” type show and we would love to do a couple this year, so if you have questions that you'd like us to tackle, please comment on this post or use our contact form. Send us your burning questions and we will do our best to address them all in an upcoming episode.

Well, it looks like we've survived another year…both literally and figuratively. This is our last episode of the Financial Procast for 2014 and we would like to sincerely thank all of your who listen regularly, occasionally or even just for a few minutes here and there.

No doubt we are humbled that anyone listens to us at all. We will not be releasing a show on Christmas Day as we decided that we would take that week off and figured most of you would like to take a little time off as well.

Here's to 2015!

Fa-la-la-la-la You’re Broke

Today we're sharing our Christmas cheer with all of our listeners–you should all be excited. Along with our healthy dose of holiday spirit there's also a somewhat harsh reality check coming for all those who love to spend, spend, spend during this time of year.

But it's not all about admonishing you not to spend yourself into oblivion at the expense of your future. No, today we've also got a story from Mark Cuban's most recent 8 year, $20 million battle with the SEC that should keep you entertained.

I guess we should've called this our “Thanksgiving Special” since we've decided to take the week off from producing an episode of the Financial Procast. So, here you go, it's our Thanksgiving Special–filled with joy of course (sarcasm light is blinking).

Today's episode may not be filled with all the joy of a Thanksgiving Day celebration with your favorite family members but I can assure you that this episode is not lacking turkeys.

In the financial services industry, we've turkeys a plenty.

The World's Wealthiest Manicurist

Every now and then when we're compiling things that we'd like to discuss in an episode of the Financial Procast, we find 3 or 4 topics for discussion that have absolutely no relation at all to one another.

If you've never experienced this phenomenon, you're in luck today!

Listen closely, comment freely and let us know what you think. One thing I know you're going to walk away with is more knowledge about all four of the following than you ever though possible.

I Went to College And All I Got Was This Stupid Loan

Well, you'll find it a big relief to know that my office was clear of dead rodents this week so our sound quality should be back to an acceptable quality.

Here's what we are talking about today:

Seems Some Millennials Can't Save Enough for Retirement (04:27)

Is the 4% Rule Finally Dead? (16:15)

LIMRA: Most Parents Financially Support Adult Children (32:12)

Industry Divided Over Indexed Universal Life Insurance (IUL) illustrated rates (44:06)

And the 8th Thing The Middle Class

Well, today we're back to our format of discussing a few different topics that we found interesting from the past week in the world of finance. I guess I should also mention that I had some technical difficulties today so the quality of our recording is a bit off of our high standard but hopefully you can get past that for today.

Next week, things should be back to normal…assuming the dead animal has been found and removed from my office by then.

144 Talking About Life Insurance on a Sunday

Talking About Life Insurance on a Sunday

In today's episode of the Financial Procast, we take a deep dive into why it is that universal life insurance is such a hated product by so many in our industry. This is a single topic episode as we had to record this episode a bit early due to travel.

We'll be back soon with our format of talking about various items from the world of finance.

If you would like to better understand universal life insurance, whole life insurance and how the two relate, here are some previous posts that you might find helpful:
